About Us

Raja Reddy is the candidate for the Featherbrook Ward in the upcoming Wyndham City Council elections.

Like many in the western suburbs, Raja arrived in Australia with big dreams & a determination to embrace new opportunities. He firmly believes that Australia’s rich migration history is essential to the nation’s continued growth and prosperity. Although he holds a double master’s degree and has experience as a network engineer, the challenges he encountered during his journey inspired him to pursue a career as a Registered Migration Agent and New Zealand Immigration Advisor.

As a registered migration agent, Raja has witnessed firsthand the hurdles migrants face in their quest to achieve their aspirations. Being a migrant himself, as well as a local resident and small business owner, he has a deep understanding of the everyday needs of the people in the western suburbs. Raja is committed to being a strong advocate, ensuring that these needs are not only heard but also effectively addressed.

Campaign for the Laverton Electorate

As the endorsed Liberal MP candidate for the Laverton electorate in the 2022 state elections, Raja’s campaign is driven by a deep commitment to addressing the pressing issues the community faces. Through active door-knocking and direct conversations with locals, Raja Reddy gained firsthand understanding of concerns such as inadequate street lighting, poor road maintenance, the need for new schools, a struggling healthcare system, limited public transport, and insufficient attention to safety and security in the western suburbs—issues that demand urgent action.

Raja has championed initiatives like the successful ‘Save Laverton Pool’ campaign, working alongside the local community to bring government attention to the cause and ensure the pool remained open. Raja has also advocated for significant investments in local education, including funding for:

  • A new secondary college in wyndham vale
  • A new point cook south p-12 school
  • A new primary school in williams landing
  • A new primary school in tarneit
  • A new primary school in weir views

These efforts aim to accommodate the growing needs of young families and ensure children receive a quality education.

Raja’s focus extends to improving healthcare in the western suburbs by enhancing hospitals, establishing better mental health facilities, and advocating for improved bus networks, parks, pools, and sports facilities. For too long, Melbourne’s west has been overlooked and taken for granted. Under his leadership, the region will be respected, invested in, and delivered for as the fastest-growing community in the state.

Personal Commitment

On a personal note, Raja is a family man, married to Dr.Satvika Burugupalli, a scientist at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute. Together, they have two young children. Their experience as parents gives them a deep understanding of the challenges families face with schools and healthcare, fueling Raja’s dedication to making the west a better place to live, work, and raise a family.

Raja’s commitment to community safety is rooted in personal experiences that many in the western suburbs can relate to. For years, families and children have faced challenges that have gone unheard, with concerns like domestic violence and frequent thefts still needing to be addressed. These issues require a strong voice to ensure they are met with effective solutions.

Raja has actively participated in police seminars, advocating for increased patrols in the area and the installation of surveillance cameras to monitor daily activities and ensure quicker response times. While the initial response was positive, the implementation has been lacking, and Raja remains committed to pushing for real progress in these critical areas.

Community Leadership

During his tenure as President of the Telugu Association of Australia, Raja played a crucial role in promoting cultural integration and providing vital community support, particularly during the COVID-19 lockdowns. He worked tirelessly to connect the Indian Consulate with local communities, ensuring that families in need received essential assistance. Raja also coordinated repatriation flights in collaboration with the Indian Consulate, distributed groceries to local residents and care homes, and volunteered with Indian Consulates across Australia to offer emergency immigration assistance and general support. His unwavering dedication earned him the title of Volunteer of the Year in 2020, awarded by the local community.

COVID-19 Pandemic Response

During the COVID-19 pandemic, as President of the Telugu Association of Australia, Raja initiated efforts to support local care homes by distributing grocery kits and collaborating with Indian consulates across Australia to assist those in need. As a volunteer and Registered Migration Agent, he provided immigration assistance, supporting thousands of people. He also organized online events that engaged kids and families in recreational activities across Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, Raja coordinated a cultural event in collaboration with 25 other countries, which saw participation from 17,000 children globally.

One of Raja’s proudest achievements was advocating for the inclusion of Telugu in NAATI, a success made possible by strong leaders across Australia. This accomplishment reflects his dedication to diligently working toward any cause. Raja has consistently collaborated with locals at all levels to bring positive change to the west. Understanding local issues as a community member and communicating with all levels of government, backed by his experience and qualifications, makes Raja a dedicated volunteer.

Currently, Raja serves as the President of Wyndham Diwali, one of Victoria’s leading multicultural events, held annually in Wyndham. He remains actively engaged with local communities, working to strengthen connections and promote cultural unity.

Vision for the Future

Having lived in the western suburbs for nearly two decades, Raja has seen little improvement in the area. He recognizes the rapidly changing cultural landscape and the evolving needs of its residents. Raja is a strong advocate for better healthcare access, improved schools, mental health support, small business assistance, enhanced safety, more efficient transport services, greater family support systems, and helping residents by working toward lower council rates. He believes that the time for change in the west is now and is fully committed to making that change happen.
